I love December. I've written before how my two favorite months are the solstice months, June and December: opposites in so many ways, yet both focused on celebrating light, and warmth, and abundance.
This weekend, we welcomed December with our annual visit to a sweet little Christmas Tree farm outside of the city to find and cut our *perfect* tree.
December is enchanting, and we allow ourselves to be fully captivated by its goodness: the twinkling trees, the festive decor, the handmade crafts, the baked treats, the full mailboxes, the winter books to read, the holiday music to enjoy, the thoughtfulness, the merrymaking, the anticipation, the magic.
I credit my mom with making December so magical, with creating and carrying-on the simple traditions that I now pass along to my little ones at this special time of year. Without knowing it, without thinking much of it, my mom's excitement for this time of the year stirred the same feelings in me and remain all these years. We both love this festive month with all of its fanfare and tradition, and that excitement now beams from fresh, new faces.
